In this group students will learn the basics of singing. The focus is on singing in tune and developing the voice through unison and simple two-part music. This is a relaxed and fun environment! No auditions necessary. We will go caroling in downtown Montpelier in December with hot chocolate at the end. There is a final performance on January 22, too! Contact Mary Jane Austin HERE.

Michael Close, Instructor
Time TBD based on schedules of participants, on-going
Tuition: $200

Chamber groups are now being formed! Further develop your musical sensitivity and insight through playing chamber music.  Students will work on issues of ensemble, intonation, and interpretation. Some pieces will be worked in depth while other classes will be spent reading through music for fun.  Participants will be placed in groups based on age, ability, and availability. Open to all ages. (Open to piano, string or woodwind instruments.) Contact Michael Close HERE.

Erik Nielsen, Instructor

The History of Jazz II: Tuesdays 3-4 p.m.
In ten one-hour classes, Erik will cover the post‐WWII small combo and bebop movements, the wild and woolly 1960s and the changes the last 50 years have brought. He is planning to make this both lively and informative with his blend of playing music and telling stories about the talented and colorful musicians who have made jazz what it is.

Chamber Music: Fridays 3:15-4:45 p.m.
Erik’s aim is to cover the great composers and their works for this varied and wonderful medium. Some of the composers covered will include Byrd, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Faure, Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich, as well as contemporary composers.
