Chamber groups are now being formed! Further develop your musical sensitivity and insight through playing chamber music. Students will work on issues of ensemble, intonation, and interpretation. MUSIC APPRECIATION CLASSES
at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center
Erik Nielsen, Instructor
The History of Jazz II: Tuesdays 3-4 p.m.
In ten one-hour classes, Erik will cover the post‐WWII small combo and bebop movements, the wild and woolly 1960s and the changes the last 50 years have brought. He is planning to make this both lively and informative with his blend of playing music and telling stories about the talented and colorful musicians who have made jazz what it is.
Chamber Music: Fridays 3:15-4:45 p.m.
Erik’s aim is to cover the great composers and their works for this varied and wonderful medium. Some of the composers covered will include Byrd, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Faure, Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich, as well as contemporary composers.
